The red hot sun was bearing down on the barren earth. A crowd of men stood off in the distance as a dark figure sat on his black stallion studying the group atop a ridge. The crowd was separated into two distinct groups facing each other in a stand-off. Curiosity got the mysterious figure so he headed down the ridge towards the two groups that were in a stalemate against each other.
An old wise man stood proudly holding an apple in his hands. This apple was big, juicy and smelled so fresh. Its skin was a rich red that shone like the sun in a cloudless sky. The old man held the apple with care and pride due to how beautiful the apple was because of his hard work over the years. But the old man was nearing the end of his time to care for the apple he had worked so hard for and it was now time for a young man to take his place.
In stepped a dark shadowy figure through the weather beaten bar doors which snapped back to their places after he passed. The combination of the bright sun at his back and the dim lighting of the bar managed to mask his face under the brim of his worn hat. He paused briefly after entering to take note of the smoke filled bar, the smell of tobacco and the characters that sat at their tables handling their whiskey and cards. After sizing them up through the haze, he made his way across the creaking wood floor, straight to the bar-keep who was cleaning off glasses behind the bar. The mysterious man leaned forward on the bar and waited for keep to look up from his cleaning.
“You are so amazing”, said an elderly gentleman who was sitting across the table from his wife of 42 years. After hearing this, a bright red hue instantly covered her face just like it had for all of those 42 years when the man talked about her. The two were one of those rare couples that were thought to be invented by romantic movies and jewelry ads but this was no film set. The two had met years ago and both instantly knew they had to be with each other and through the time their love for each other had never wavered.
